2 God Facts

GOD FACT #1

1. God has called us – v15

               A. We were called to be saved – v15

called – means to call outloud; call out

                ***It speaks of an invitation

                ***The Lord calls to anyone

                ***It is a loud voice

               B. We were called to be obedient – v15

a. before we were saved, we were disobedient – Eph 2:1-3

b. @ salvation we became obedient children

obedient – means to comply/ pay attention/ surrender/ give in & bend the neck

                    ***Obey the Lord and the Bible

***Do not be conformed to your former life – means to assume the same visible form

***do not be like the world any longer

***We know how to live because it is found in the Bible

***We also must obey human authorities – disobey man you are disobeying God

GOD FACT #2

2. God is Holy – v16

Holy – means to be set apart or separated from evil and sin

        – means to be different from the ordinary/be unique

Jesus is different  from the ordinary – Matthew 3:13-17

   -He never sinned one time and has nothing to do with sin.  Jesus is Holy…

-only follow the sinless One – Jesus Christ

ONE BELIEVER FACT

BELIEVER FACT #1

1. BE HOLY – v16

-Be holy means to become holy

-it is used twice in vs15-16

-it means to be separated from sin and evil and set apart to God

             THERE IS POSITIONAL HOLINESS – vs15b-16

-we must understand positional Christianity and Holiness

      a. Positional Holiness occurs immediately @ salvation

-this has nothing to do with behavior, sins and actions

      b. Positional Holiness does not mean a person never sins or doesn’t have an issue

-we bring sins and past stuff into our Christian life, but that is not who we are

           THERE IS PROCESS HOLINESS – vs15b-16

Be Holy – means to become Holy

—Christianity is a faith of process

1. PROCESS HOLINESS IS REALIZING WE ARE ALL STILL IN AN UNFINISHED STATE

-we are all under construction and have flaws and weaknesses

REMEMBER: Jesus cares more about desire than our unfinished state…

2. PROCESS HOLINESS IS BECOMING MORE LIKE JESUS – Romans 8:28-30

-be patient with people

-everyone grows at their own pace

-work on yourself

-realize the Lord always loves you

-Don’t focus on your imperfections

3. PROCESS HOLINESS IS A CHOICE

-everyone chooses their level of committment to Christ & Christianity

-Choose Jesus and following Him wholeheartedly
