Zechariah 12

v11 – in that day – this speaks of the second coming of Jesus Christ
– Matthew 24:37 & Genesis 6:5-12———————1 Chronicles 12:32 – violence
v10 – The House of David – represents Israel and the Jewish people
– The Lord gives the Jewish people a promise
– He is going to pour out the Spirit on them
Pour Out – means an abundance…plentiful…in large amounts…a big #
– This is a steady stream and flow…..
The Lord is pouring out His Spirit on the Jewish people…..
1.  A SPIRIT OF SUPPLICATION – this is a spirit of prayer
– Supplication – this is prayer for ourselves – personal prayers
– Phil 4:6-7 & James 5:16-17
– This is crying out to God to ask Him to do a work in them
2. A SPIRIT OF GRACE
– These are the results of crying out to God with a spirit of supplication
v10 – look on Him who they pierced – this is Jesus on the cross…
– This is when Israel looks at Jesus when He returns…
v10-14 – Israel will mourn
– As they are convicted by the sight of Jesus and His return
Awakening – is a resurrection from spiritual death.  Israel was dead spiritually, but now they are saved
                CHAPTER 13
v1 – In that Day – refers to the return of Jesus
House of David – represents those higher up in society & govt officials
Inhabitants – this is the common people and the citizens
Fountain – this is the blood of Jesus
– It cleanses people from their sins
– 1 John 1:9
               a. Eph 1:7 – redeemed by His blood – Salvation
               b. Romans 5:9 – justified by His blood – Position
– Exodus 12:3, 6-7, 12-13
– The Passover
– Delivered  from Egypt – the world
– Delivered from bondage – sin
– Delivered from Pharaoh – the devil
– Delivered from wrath – grace
Cleanse from sin and righteousness
– This cleansing is continual
– This cleansing is for all sin
– This cleansing is for everyone
– This cleansing comes as people realize they have sinned
v2 – Cleansing from sin will lead to separation from sin – Zech 13:2-6
– 2 Corinthians 7:1
– The Lord removes things as we repent and are saved and follow Jesus
a. All idols are removed
b. All demonic influences are removed
c. All false doctrine must leave
Robe of course hair – what Elijah and John the Baptist wore
Zechariah 13:4-6 – these are false prophets with false words – Jeremiah 23:16-22, 30-33
v7 – God the Father Speaks
Awake – means to be active and alert
– This refers to the death of Jesus Christ
My Companion – means my equal
Jesus Christ is God – 1 John 5:20…John 5:18…John 1:1,14
Strike the Shepherd – Jesus was killed and the Jewish people were scattered to other nations in 70A.D..
turn my hand – the Lord deals with Israel
Little ones – a description of Israel
– This all occurs during the tribulation period – Jeremiah 30:7
– The tribulation is not  for the church – Isaiah 26:20
– The tribulation is all about redemption – all of Israel finally gets saved
