Zechariah 12

Zechariah 12

v5 – John 15:5 – the leaders of Israel realize they need the Lord…..
– We cannot do anything on our own
v6 – In that Day – this speaks of there last days and when Jesus is ready to return
a. Used in vs 4,6,8,9.11
b. This is the time of the judgment of God for rejecting Jesus
Judgment – means to decide, determine and come to a conclusion
– The Lord makes a decision based on another person’s decision
Jesus judges sin and not the person……….
– The believer is not under the judgment of God…..Romans 5:9 & 1 Thess 5:9
A firepot or pan in the woodpile –
– This is what is leftover from yesterdays fire – ashes only and the fire is out
– It looks like Israel is down and out
– The Lord will make Israel like a fiery torch in the sheaves – this is fresh fire
– The leaders of Israel placed more wood and paper and fuel on the ashes and a huge blaze erupts which defeats the enemies of Israel
– You can tell when the fire of God is starting to go out in your life……..
How to get the fire of God in your life?
(1) UNDERSTAND THE FIRE OF GOD IS IN YOU – Leviticus 9:23-24
– All believers received the fire of God at salvation
– Receive it by faith
(2) HAVE A DESIRE FOR THE FIRE OF GOD – Romans 12:11
Fervent – means to boil with heat
Be – means to become – we need to want it
        a. desire everything the Lord has for you – 1 Cor 14:1,39
(3) WE NEED TO GET CLOSE TO THE CONSUMING FIRE – Hebrews 12:29
– The consuming fire consumes us with His love, peace and goodness
     Two Things Happen:
              1. we become brand new people and change – Example – Moses
              2. we begin to spread the fire
(4) FEED THE FIRE DAILY – Leviticus 6:12-13
– To keep a spiritual fire burning, you have to continually feed the fire
v12 – every morning
Verse 7
*During King Solomon’s reign over Israel, Israel was split in two
Judah – the southern kingdom
Israel – the northern kingdom
– Judah is attacked first
v7a – the Lord will fight our battles for us
v8-9 – the Lord fights our battles in 2 ways:
     1. the Lord fights Himself
v8 – He will defend Israel
v9 – I will destroy all of the nations
     2. The people of Israel will Fight
v8 – feeble – those who are weak will become strong like King David
Be As God – v8 – the nation of Israel will become strong and invincible
How do we allow the Lord to fight our battles??????
1. Through Praise and Worship – 2 Chronicles 20:1-4, 14-24
God is worthy of our praise all day, every day and no matter what kind of a day it is
Praise changes your focus from the problem to the Lord
2. Through developing a spirit of release – 1 Peter 5:7
-give your issue to Jesus Christ
– Keep moving forward even during the battle – Exodus 14:13-15
How do we release battles to the Lord?
a. pray – throwing your requests on Jesus
b. declare – Jesus is handling this.  He’s got it
c. Stand – Ephesians 6:13-14 – stand on what you have prayed
3. Rearrange you thinking – Philippians 4:8
-think on the lord and how He is working things out
-think of the victory you already have
4. Hang around some awesome believers – Luke22:55-60
hang out with born again believers who are radically changed
