Zechariah 12

v1 – Burden – man’s a crushing weight of judgment
– This is for the enemies of Israel
– God is the Judge and He judges sin and not people
– Judgment – means to decide…to determine…to come to a conclusion
  a. The Lord makes  decision based on another person’s decision
– The believer is not under the judgment of God
             a. The judgment of God is for Israel during the tribulation period – Jere 30:7
             b. The believe is not under God’s judgment – 1 Thess 5:9…Rom 5:9
v2 – This is a description of Armageddon
– The nations of the world surround Jerusalem to attempt to destroy Israel
– Rev 16:12-16 Armageddon means mountain of Megiddo & used once in the bIble
– Jesus will lead a heavenly army to earth at Armageddon – Rev 19:11-16, 19-21
– The battle of Armageddon comes at the end of the tribulation period
v3 – It will happen or occur
– When the Lord says something is going to happen it will happen…
In That Day – v4, 6, 8, 9, 11
– This refers to the second coming of Jesus Christ
– The enemies will try to lift a stone to crush Israel, but the stone will roll back on them and crush them
v4 – In That Day – this is the last days when Jesus Christ is ready to return
I will strike – horse and riders – the Lord will bring confusion among Israels’ enemies and defeat them…
I will watch – the Lords’ eyes are always open
Exodus 2:12-14 & Joshua 7:20-22
v5 – The ear the leaders of Israel who will look around and realize that they can do nothing without the Lord
v6 – In That Day – the day of the return of the Lord
– A firepot or pan in the woodpile – this is what is leftover from yesterdays fire – ashes and the fire is out
– It look like Israel is down and out – their fire went out
-A  fiery torch in the sheaves – this is fresh fire
How to get the fire of God back in your life…
1. Get close to the Consuming Fire – Hebrews 12:29
– The consuming fire consumes us and changes us
2. Feed the fire daily – Leviticus 6:12-13
v12 – Every morning
– Read the Bible daily…pray daily…
v7 – Israel became divided during the time of King Solomon
Southern Kingdom – Judah
Northern Kingdom – Israel
– The enemies of Israel came against Judah first……..The Lord fought for Israel
How can we let the Lord fight our battles?
1. Through praise and worship – 2 Chronicles 20:1-4, 14-24
2. Through developing a spirit of release – 1 Peter 5:7
– Pray, declare and then stand
3. Rearranging our thinking – Phil 4:8
– Dwell on the lord and not on your issue
v8-9 – The Lord will defeat all of the enemies of Israel in 2 ways:
1. The Lord Himself will defend Israel – v8
v9 – I will destroy all the nations
2.  The people of Israel
The feeble – v8 – those who are weak and faint will become strong like King David
Be as God – v8 – the nation will become strong and invincible which speaks of fighting against Israel is like fighting against God Himself
