The Gospel of Mark

The Gospel of Mark

                                          Mark1 :16-28
JESUS CASTS OUT AN UNCLEAN SPIRIT
vs16-20 – 4 men – Simon, Andrew, James and John
-this was a call to sell out for Jesus and to be called to ministry
-HE SAW – vs16,19 – Jesus saw the potential in people
Follow Me – means to be on the same road
         ***this is an invitation
I will make you – it means to become
-Christianity is a becoming faith – 1 Peter 1:15-16 & Ephesians 4:32
Salvation – is immediate and automatic
Becoming – is a process and continues until we get to heaven
Fishers of Men – this is a call to ministry and to be soul winners
vs18,20 – all 4 men surrounded to the call of God for ministry
-they left everything to follow Jesus and His call on their lives
v21 – the disciples and Jesus meet a demon
-this happens after the disciples sell out for the Lord
-when you called and obey that calling, the enemy will attack
-it is a choice to enter into the battle or not
Capernaum – the headquarters of Jesus in His Galilean ministry
*a synagogue needed 10 men to get started
*the ruler of the synagogue chose who to speak
     *Jesus was asked to teach
v22 – astonished – means superhuman ability and force/delegated power from heaven
—believers have this authority over the enemy – Luke 9:1-2 & Eph 1:1-3
vs23-24 – A man with a demon enters into the synagogue
     2 Things To Note:
            1. we are not fighting human beings, but demons – Eph 6:10-18
            2. Demons can only be one place at a time
-they are fallen angels
-they are not God who is everywhere
-demons are invisible, but they can manifest – they cry out here – this is a horrible terrifying scream and cry
***only unbelievers can be demon possessed
***believers can only be demon oppressed – Eph 5:8-13 & 1 Cor 6:19
v24 – the demons recognize Jesus is God
-Demons do no know everything – only what they hear.  Watch your words.  Demons can’t read minds
-thy can place something into your mind
-RESIST……REMOVE…….REPLACE wrong thoughts from the enemy…
v25 – Jesus interrupts the demon
             a. interrupt demons
             b. speak back to demons
Be Quiet – means to put a muzzle on it
-Jesus took the vote out of the devil and his demons
-all the enemy can do is roar – 1 Peter 5:8
v26 – the demon did not want to leave, but they have to
v27 – the demon is commanded to come out
Acts 16:16-18 – demons must be commanded to leave and not asked to leave politely
-God cannot cast demons out either.  The believer must command demons to go
