Resurrection Sunday

                                           John 16:5-15
(1) THE PROMISE OF THE RESURRECTION – John 16:5-7a
“Now I go away to Him who sent me.” – this refers to the death burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ
***Jesus kept His Word and rose from the grave – He is Alive…
***This is the TRUTH – (vs7,13) – Christianity is all truth & a fact…….
***Jesus kept His word and His promise & therefore we can trust anything Jesus said…..
Forgiveness Of Our Sins
-Jesus forgives us of ALL of our sins
-Our God is an ALL encompassing God
REMEMBER: The voice of sin is loud, but the voice of forgiveness is louder….
                       Forgiveness is knowing that at any moment you can get back with
                                      and right with God
(2) THE PERSONAL PRESENCE OF THE LORD –  John 16:13
             “He (the Holy Spirit) will tell you things to come”
***This means He will explain what is going to happen in the future……
     What things will happen in the future?
     a. we are all getting older
     b. we are all going to die
     c. Jesus Christ is coming back
***There are signs showing that Jesus is coming back soon……………
-an increase in travel
-an increase in disease & sickness
-a rise in violence
-the rise & dominance of China
(3) THE PERSUASION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – John 16:7-11
convict – is a legal term that speaks of a lawyer cross examining someone until there is a confession…
-The Holy Spirit is the Convicter
***The Holy Spirit Convinces Us Of 3 Things
(1) Vs8-9 – The Holy Spirit Convinces Us That We Have Sinned And Need A Savior
-The Holy stays with us until we confess
-we must recognize that we have sinned
(2) vs8,10 – The Holy Spirit Convinces Us That We Need His Righteousness
-works will not get us to heaven
-we cannot earn our way to get anything from God
-we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ only
(3) vs8,11 – The Holy Spirit Convinces Us Of Judgment
-it is decision time – judgment means to make a decision
– we all will stand before the Lord and a decision wil be made by the Lord based on our decision
***Paul preached this message to a ruler names Felix and He was almost persuaded about being saved and becoming a follower of Jesus Christ…….
