Mark 6

vs45-52 – JESUS WALKS ON THE WATER
PERSPECTIVE and PRAYER
PERSPECTIVE
vs45-46 – Israel’s perspective of the Messiah would be that He will be a warrior
Israel had a wrong perspective of Jesus.  Many people today do also…
Our perspective of Jesus must be a Biblical perpsective
PRAYER
1. Pray to have fellowship and strength from the Father
-a time of personal devotion
2. jesus prayed when there was no trouble
-this reveals maturity and growth
***Blessings vs Battles – vs47-48
-the Lord blesses, but then battles ensue
WHAT DO WE DO WHEN THE WIND IS AGAINST US?
(1) KEEP ROWING – v48
-keep reading the Word and praying etc etc etc
-everyone wil go through hard times
-straining – means to torture…harassed…distressed…tormented
(2) know the Lord is omnipresent – V48
*Jesus sees us, cares for us and is with us – 1 Peter 5:7
*Jesus came to them – v48
*Being with us does not means the solution will come quickly
*Going through storms does not mean we have sinned or are out of God’s will
(3) CRY OUT TO THE LORD – vs49-50
-Crying out to the Lord is a time of prayer
     a. Crying out to the Lord stops the Lord from passing us by – v48
-I do not want the Lord to pass by CCWC
     b. Crying out to the Lord delivers us from all of our troubles – Ps 34:6 & 17 and
Psalm 107:28-32
*Only Jesus can deliver you – “IT IS I” in v50 – means It is me Jesus and no one else…
What were the disciples delivered from – FEAR……….
Do not be afraid – it speaks of Jesus forbidding the continuance of an action going on
-We can be delivered from all fears:
     a. Luke 21:26 – fear is a sign of the last days
     b. 2 Tim 1:7 – take authority over a spirit of fear
     c. Crying out to the Lord stops things from occurring – v51
-they cried out to the Lord and the wind stopped
-crying out to the Lord stops things from happening
v52 – the reason many things came against the disciples such as fear was because the disciples had grown stale in their faith
hardened – means to become dull…to lose the power of understanding
-they should have remembered the miracles the Lord did in the past – like the feeding of the 5,000
vs53-56 –
v53 – we will make it to the other side, but to get there we may have to go through many things and storms
***Jesus is a Healer
***Wherever Jesus is, people will show up
***Wherever Jesus is, something happens and not just in church – The Marketplace
