Mark 3

Mark 3

v7 – Jesus Withdraws –
*for rest
*because of opposition
***The crowds kept following Jesus, but they were not truly after Him – John 2:23-25
v8 – He was doing – means to be continually doing
Jesus was continually healing, saving people & touching people
-things should always be happening in our community & neighborhood and in the world…
v9 – Jesus always saw ahead…was administrative…Always had a plan
v10 – healed – means to make whole – refers to being saved and healed physically
pressed – means to fall upon…people were falling on Jesus
afflictions – speaks of a stroke or an outbreak of a disease like the flu
– it speaks of being whipped
-diseases can whip people and beat them down
v11 – there was demonic activity also happening
*not everything is demonic, but some things are
All believers have authority over the enemy
Delegated authority – demons fell before Jesus because of the authority He had from the Father.  Demons recognized this authority
Demons need to know who we are
v12 – Jesus rebukes the demons
-He tells them not to let the crowds know who He is – the Jewish people were looking for someone who overthrow Rome and cause riots and overthrow the govt
Demons have intelligence – v11 – they only know what is being said
vs13-19 – The 12 Disciples
v13 – Jesus went up into a mountain to be alone and pray to choose the disciples
called – it means the Lord called the disciples – those called to ministry
v14 – called them to preach – not from a pulpit but in the marketplace
send them out – to send out on a mission
vs15-19 – they had delegated authority over demon forces
v20 – a crowd gathers around Jesus
v21 – the family of Jesus comes to forcefully take Him home
v22 – Jesus casts out demons by Beelzebub – this is another name for the devil and means master of the house
-they were saying that jesus was of the devil
-the enemy tried to do anything to destroy Jesus
vs23 – 26 – Jesus said that satan cannot cast out satan – it is impossible
v27 – strong man – is satan
plunder – means to carry off…thoroughly ransack
-Whoever casts out satan must be stronger than he is – this speaks of Jesus…
vs28-30 – blaspheme – means to speak against/speak about badly and harshly
blaspheming the Holy Spirit – this is dieing in a state of unbelief and rejecting Jesus Christ.  There is no forgiveness for this sin which is rejecting salvation and Jesus Christ as the way to go to heaven
-this has nothing to do with just saying something bad about the Holy Spirit..this is rejecting jesus as one’s Savior and Lord…….
vs31-35
vs31-32 – the family of Jesus comes to get Jesus because they think He is crazy
vs33-35 – being a born again believer and being a member of the body of Christ is more important than being a member of your own family
       a. our families cannot save us
       b. our families cannot give us any spiritual blessings
       c. our families cannot be #1 in our ives – Jesus is #1 – Matt 10:34-37
