Elijah’s Message

Elijah was a voice to his culture………..a spiritual voice…….
The church today must have the voice and spirit of Elijah today in our culture…….
1. ELIJAH’S MESSAGE POINTED TO THE LORD & HIS WORD – 1 Kings 17:1; 18:36
– When Elijah spoke he pointed people to the true and living God
– 1 Kings 17:1 – pointed King Ahab to the Lord
– 1 Kings 18:36  – pointed the false prophets to the Lord
– Elijah’s name points to the Lord – Elijah means my name is Yahweh
– Style vs Substance
– Style is fine, but substance must also be present and be the emphasis…..
– Style + substance = Transformation
2. Elijah’s message was a message of restoration – 1 KINGS 18:30
– DEFINITION OF RESTORATION – means the action of returning something to a former or good condition.
Examples:  the mending of a net and the setting of a broken bone
– a. The altar must be restored – 1 Kings 18:30-32a
– b. the result of the altar being restored
     1. UNITY will be restored – 1 Kings 18:30-32a
– Elijah built the altar with 12 stones
– The #12 refers to bringing things into order…unity
– There were 12 tribes that had been divided into two Kingdoms
– 10 in the northern kingdom…2 in the southern kingdom
– Some points about Unity:
                   1. Unity produces spiritual fruit – Acts 1:14
                   2. Unity is in Jesus and His purpose – the Great Commission
                   3. Unity must be intentional – we must take a stand against disunity
       2. PEOPLE are restored to the Lord – 1 Kings 18:37-39
 – People are saved….come back to the Lord from being backslidden
3. ELIJAH’S MESSAGE WAS A MESSAGE OF FAITH – 1 Kings 18:41-46
– a. We need to have eyes of faith – 1 Kings 18:41-46
– Faith sees the manifestation of things that have not happened yet
– Compare Elijah and his servant – vs41-43 – the servant saw nothing
– b. Faith is based on the Word of God – 1 Kings 17:1,2,5,8
– People and doctors, teachers, counselors and friends have spoke – God has spoken…
– We have promises in the Word of God that has spoken – thousands of them
4. ELIJAHS MESSAGE WAS A MESSAGE OF MIRACLES
– The Miracle Of Provision – 1 Kings 17:5-7
– Jehovah Jireh – the God who provides
1. There is natural and supernatural provision- 1 Kings 17:5-7
natural – work/streams/gardens
– Supernatural
   – The Lord sends birds to Elijah
   – Angels cooked Elijah a meal to eat
2. The Lord COMMANDS Provision to come to the believer – 1 Kings 19:5-8
– The Lord commands provision to come to us….
3. God’s Direction Includes God’s Provision –
– Wherever the Lord takes us, He will provide for us…
– We must be in His will & following Jesus and there will be provision
