Elijah

A PLACE CALLED THERE

                                          1 Kings 17:2-4
1. THERE is a PLACE
2. THERE is a POSITION
3. THERE is PROVISION
(1.) THERE IS A PLACE – vs1-2
v1 – Elijah confronts King Ahab – there will be no rain for over 3 years
v2 – the Word of the Lord tells Elijah to go to Cherith – the Brook Cherith
              a.) THERE is the Secret Place – Psalm 91:1-2
-THERE is a place where you are alone with the Lord – calm, peace & solitude
         ***We must realize who we are alone with
              b.) The Lord invites us to be with Him in the secret place to grow and mature
              c.) The secret place is a priority – it’s a divine appointment…
-this is the first place Elijah is to go and it must be the first place we go every day
               d.) the secret place must have the atmosphere of heaven
***WHAT DO WE DO WITH OUR ALONE TIME?
***Build an Altar………………………..
(2.) THERE IS A POSITION – 1 Kings 17:5
-we all need STAYING POWER – THERE is a place to learn how to stay
-We will all experience hard times in our lives
-the Lord leads us into hard places
-Stay in hard places where the Lord has placed you
-Most growth occurs in hard places
(3.) THERE IS PROVISION – 1 Kings 17:1-4
     Provision Points
******* WE HAVE PROMISES THAT GOD WILL PROVIDE -1 Kings 17:4…Phil 4:19…Psalm 23:1
-the Lord will provide – it is His name – Jehovah Jireh
*******THE LORD COMMANDS PROVISION TO BE GIVEN – 1 Kings 17:4, 8-9
-The Lord really enjoys surprising us
-He provides to the place called THERE – the place He has called us to…
——–the Lord can use anything He wants to provide for us – ravens
1. they were unclean birds and could not be eaten according to the Mosaic law
2.  they rarely returned to the same place day after day
3. they were greedy birds and ate about anything
4. This was a miracle and only the Lord could do it
*******Sometimes the Lord provides just enough
-Elijah only had water and bird food
*******THERE IS SUPERNATURAL AND NATURAL PROVISION
-ravens – supernatural provision
-the brook Cherith – natural provision
